How To: Editor

Hey Guys, this is what you want to know about the TnC Editor!

If you only want to play maps and not make them, skip to the bottom.

this is just an unorganized list of things to know atm, maybe I'll format it later.

How to make the Maps:

  • For bases, use the gristmill in Minerals. The one in structures does not work.
  • If you place bases, you have to place farms in the surrounding 8 slots. Right now you have to do this manually (sry)
  • If you do something and nothing seems to happen, try pressing F1. If it works, contact me with what you were doing and I'll add the automatic refresh (some are still uncaught)
  • Don't drag things off the map. You'll crash. (sry)
  • A lot of things just don't work, but all the terrain things and bases do (so normal map making should work dine)
  • The first time you save, you have to save through the [Esc] Menu. After that, you can use F5.
  • Faction Data (such as Spawn positions) can be edited through the [F2] Menu. If you save with invalid spawns (maybe because you moved the spawning mills), the Editor will assign spawns.
  • the Terraforming Tool is better than Elevation most of the time
  • When dealing with elevation, the odd layers are reserved for Ramps/Cliffs. All normal Terrain should be on even heights (this is signaled by the pink squares)

How to play the Maps:

  1. Have the map you want to play in your %appdata%/ToothAndTail/worlds (this is where the editor saves maps by default)
  2. If you want to play multiplayer, make sure all other players have the same map with the same file name in their respective /worlds folder.
  3. make a custom Lobby. In the map options put in your map's file name as Seed. (This may be case sensitive)
  4. The Preview should now show your custom map. You can go ahead and play.
  5. :tada:
